In early 1940, the Japanese Navy commissioned the NAKAJIMA A6M2-N seaplane, which was a modified version of the Mitsubishi Zero-fighter aircraft. The initial delivery occurred in December 1941, and a total of 320 units were produced before manufacturing ended in 1943. The Allies referred to it as the "Rufe," and it was deployed in both the northern and southern Pacific theaters, ranging from the Aleutian Islands to the Solomon Islands. Its primary function was defensive rather than offensive, despite being equipped with two wing-mounted cannons and two machine guns located at the front top of the engine cowling. For Ages 14+
